Nikki Cochran-Principal/Project Director

Nikki Cochran is the Principal and Project Director of Dothan City Schools Head Start, where she has dedicated her career to ensuring young learners are prepared for success in kindergarten. With over 18 years of experience in early childhood education, Nikki has served as a Pre-K teacher, instructional coach, and now principal. 

Throughout her career, Nikki has played a vital role in writing and managing the annual federal grant for the Head Start program, ensuring compliance with federal policies, and prioritizing the safety and development of both students and staff. Her leadership ensures that the program not only meets but exceeds standards, fostering an environment where children are  empowered to thrive. 

Nikki holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as advanced certification in Educational Leadership (Ed.L. and Ed.S.).

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Nikki is a proud mother of three and a grandmother (Nini) to two, embracing her family as a central part of her life. 

Buffie Kinsey-Assistant Principal/Education Director

Buffie Kinsey is the Assistant Principal and Education Manager at Dothan City Schools Head Start, where she has served for the past 11 years. With a robust background in special education, Buffie brings over 30 years of experience in the field, including 19 years as a dedicated special education teacher. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in special education, as well as an Education Specialist degree in school administration. 

Throughout her career, Buffie has been committed to advocation for inclusive and supportive learning environments. Her leadership at Dothan City Schools Head Start focuses on fostering educational growth and empowering both students and staff. Buffie is also a proud wife and mother of two, balancing her professional responsibilities with her dedication to family life.

 

 

Lacrecia Williams-Instructional Coach

Lacrecia Williams is a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. She has spent 21 years teaching special education preschool and First Class Pre-K at Head Start and Dothan City Early Education Center. Lacrecia was a lead teacher and instructional coach at Head Start and ADECE. In 2020, she was honored as the Dothan City Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year. Outside of work, Lacrecia enjoys traveling, reading and spending quality time with her family. 

 

 

 

 

Hanna Golson-Mentor Coach

Hanna Golson is the Mentor Coach for Dothan City Schools Head Start. She is in her second year as Mentor Coach. With 19 years of classroom experience teaching kindergarten through fifth grade, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work. She has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education. She is passionate about supporting both students and educators in creating a positive learning environment. Outside of her professional life, Hanna is married and the proud mother of three boys. 

 

 

Shamika Bonds-Parent Involvement Specialist/PFCE Coordinator

Shamika Bonds is a passionate Parental Involvement Specialist and ERSEA/PFCE Coordinator with three years of experience dedicated to empowering families and enriching the lives of children through education. Guided by her faith and heart for service, Shamika believes that strong family engagement is the foundation of lifelong success. Outside of her professional work, she finds fulfillment in worshiping and serving God, cherishing time with her daughter and family, exploring the beauty of nature and embracing life's simple joys. Her commitment to both her faith and her community continues to inspire everything she does.

 

 

Janice Horne-Nurse/Nutrition Coordinator

Janice Horne is the Nurse and Nutrition Coordinator for Dothan City Schools Head Start, where she has been serving for the past 9 years. With 20 years of experience as a school nurse, Janice brings a wealth of knowledge in child healthcare and nutrition. Before transitioning to school nursing, she worked as a labor and delivery  nurse and a neonatal intensive are nurse, gaining invaluable experience in maternal and newborn care. 

Janice holds a bachelor's and associate's degree in nursing. Her dedication to the well-being of students extends beyond healthcare to include nutrition, ensuring that children receive the comprehensive support they need for healthy development. Janice is also a devoted wife and mother of two, balancing her professional life with her family.
